Ashley Shaw, founder of LightSpeed Development, attended WordCamp Europe in Seville in late June this year. There, Noel Tock from Human Made challenged Ashley to organize a WordPress agency meet-up in Cape Town, South Africa.
Planning for the event has already begun. You can take a look at the details that have been planned out so far on Hackpad.
Date: Saturday, September 12th 2015
Place: Ferris Wheel, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town
The meetup will be a first of its kind and aims to test the idea of setting up regular agency meetups in the future. We’ll keep this initial meet-up small, with representatives from a select few agencies joining a discussion and focusing on bringing companies together in an informal setting to promote collaboration through building networks, connecting businesses and sharing ideas.
The event is in partnership with WordCamp Cape Town, and is happening the day after the flagship event. We’re happy to announce that some of the international guests at WordCamp Cape Town will be attending our meet-up!
We’re also lucky to have landed sponsorship from WP-Rocket for the day’s activities.
We’ll meet at the Ferris Wheel at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and catch a minibus from there to Paarl where the day will start with a cheese tasting at Fairview, a relaxing and fun way for us to ease into the day with each other. Next we’ll head to the Spice Route, where we’ll start off the discussions.
- Session 1: Balancing Projects – facilitated by Ashley Shaw.
- Lunch Break (at Spice Route)
- Session 2: Building a Team – touching on a wide range of topics from hiring team members to the implications of utilising remote or distributed teams. This session will be facilitated by Johann van Tonder.
We will leave Paarl by 16h00 for the V&A Waterfront.
