Ashley Shaw: Future 100 Platinum award Winner

We are very excited to announce that LightSpeed’s founder, Ashley Shaw, has won a top 10 spot or Platinum Award in the Future 100 Awards. The Future 100 Awards seek to honor and promote the top 100 most inspiring young entrepreneurs in South Africa.
Ashley is no stranger to accolades and in the past his entrepreneurial prowess has been acknowledged with winning the  2009 Velociti Enterprise Development Programme.

The Future 100 Awards
The Future 100 is an inspirational programme that seeks to recognise and promote promising young entrepreneurs in the country. It has been designed with a mandate of increasing entrepreneurial appetite amongst young people to claim the centre stage of economic development of the country.
Under the theme “Discovering South Africa’s 100 most inspiring young entrepreneurs”, the programme, spearheaded by the the South African Youth Chamber of Commerce (SAYCC) and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), seeks to encourage young people to engage in entrepreneurial activities.
The award has various categories, platinum (for the top 20), gold, silver and bronze. Participating companies ranged from IT, media, construction and manufacturing.

LightSpeed started out as an IT support company in 2003, but was transformed into a premium WordPress solution provider in 2006 when Ashley discovered WordPress, the open source web CMS software. He has always been passionate about Open Source software and through his extensive research he saw potential to use WordPress technologies to build solutions for clients.LightSpeed has since then offered specialised WordPress, WPMU, BuddyPress, bbPress and eCommerce development services to a variety of clients.
Recently we’ve launched an exciting new product, our LightSpeed WordPress Hosting a dedicated WordPress hosting platform, geared towards giving you the optimal WordPress hosting experience.

LightSpeed also strives to be actively involved with the WordPress community, hosting WordCamp Cape Town 2011 and building strong partnerships with other industry leaders such as WooThemes and GetShopped.org.
