Homepage menu setup

Add your Tour Operator post types to your main navigation menu:

  • Navigate to your WordPress dashboard
  • Hover over the “Appearance” menu item on your Dashboard and select the “Menus” menu item
  • You will land on the “Edit Menus” tab of the menus settings

  • Make sure the menu selected for editing is the Primary Menu (menu usually displayed in the site header)
  • Select the “Custom Links” option from the list of menu item categories in the sidebar next to the Dashboard
  • Enter the slug for the post type you wish to add:

  1. Accommodations slug – /accommodation/
  2. Tours slug –  /tours/
  3. Destinations slug – /destinations/
  • Next add the Navigation label (the name of the post type displayed on the menu)
  • Select the “Add to Menu” item
  • This link will now be displayed on your homepage header and will access your list of posts under that specific post type when selected by a user
  • You can now drag and drop the menu item into the desired position on the Menu Structure section

Widgets

Widgets allow you to add Tour Operator post types (Accommodation, Destinations and Tours) to your Homepage.

You can add a Tour Operator widget to your page using the Widgets Menu or the WordPress Customiser:
Widgets Menu

  • Navigate to your WordPress Dashboard on the backend of your website
  • Hover over the “Appearance” menu item and select “Widgets” from the sub-menu
  • The left of the page displays a list of your available widgets, the right displays your widget areas
  • Select one of the available TO widgets
  1. TO Post Types
  2. TO Taxonomies

  • Click and drag one of these widget into the widget area of your choice and configure the widget

WordPress Customiser

  • Navigate to your WordPress Dashboard on the backend of your website
  • Hover over the “Appearance” menu item and select “Customizer” from the sub-menu
  • Select the “Widgets” option from the Customiser menu
  • Choose the widget area you wish to place a TO widget in (may vary depending on your theme)
  • Select the “Add a Widget’ button from widget area menu
  • Select one of the available TO widgets
  • Configure the widget
