- From the backend of your WordPress Website, navigate to the “Plugins” option in the Dashboard.
- Select the “Add New” option
- You will land on the WordPress plugin search page. In the search bar, search for “Tour Operator Maps”
- Once you see the plugin (be sure it’s the correct one created By LightSpeed) select the “Install Now” option.
- The plugin will download, once complete select the “Activate” option
Once the Maps extension is installed, you then need to configure the Maps settings in your Tour Operator settings menu.
In order for the Tour Operator Maps to function, you will require an active Google Maps API License Key.

Once you have your API licence Key from Google, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Hover over the “Tour Operator” menu item and select the “Settings” option.
- You will land on the “General” settings tab.
- Navigate to the tab labelled “API”.
- You will notice a field heading “Google Maps API”.
- Add your valid Google Maps API key into the provided field.
- Select “Save Changes”.
- Your maps will now load correctly!
- Navigate to your WordPress Dashboard
- Hover over the “Tour Operator” menu item and select the “Settings” option
- Here you will notice a number of menu items
- Select the “Display” option
- The Display sub-menu will now have an item marked “Maps”
- Here you can configure the following display options:
Choose a default marker – Select an image from your gallery or computer to use as a default map marker
Choose a cluster marker – Select an image from your gallery or computer to use as a default map marker for cluster marking
Choose a start marker – Select an image from your gallery or computer to use as a default map marker for the marker that starts a multi-pointed map.
Choose a end marker – Select an image from your gallery or computer to use as a default map marker for the marker that ends a multi-pointed map.
- Head to the Google Developers Website
- Select the “Get a Key” option
- A popup will appear with the option to “Select or create project”
- Select this option and the “create new project” from the dropdown
- Next, enter the name of your project (the name of your company or website is perfect)
- Select “Create and Enable API”
- You will then be redirected to another popup modal that contains your API Key.
- Copy this API Key and Paste it into the Google Maps API Key field in your Tour Operator Plugin Settings.
This is a something that needs to be done in order for you to be able to use the search functionality to lookup your address when creating a new map.
- Navigate to the Google Cloud Console – https://console.cloud.google.com/
- Once on the page, select the “APIs and Services” option in the sidebar
- Select the “Library” option from the sidebar
- Type “Places” into the search bar
- Once the “Places API” option appears, select it and click “Enable”
- You’re done with this step, you will now be able to search for your location!
This is quite a new feature that Google has implemented. If you do not have an open billing account, your map usage is quite limited.
This just means the amount your maps are able to load per-day and the number of location searches you are able to make is very low.
