The Company

The Mushara Collection is owned by Marc and Mariza Pampe, they have been a client of LightSpeed since 2009. Their accommodation facilities are an oasis of hospitality on the doorstep of Etosha National Park, Namibia’s leading Big Game destination. The Mushara Collection is the only family-run accommodation business in Eastern Etosha and offers diverse facilities ranging from the stylish and child-friendly Bush Camp to the supreme luxury of the Villas. Everything that Marc and Mariza have achieved is infused with their passion for excellent guest experience and the very highest standards of service.

The Challenge

The Mushara Collection consists of four lodges within Etosha National Park in the north of Namibia. The Pampe family want their website to show their passion and support for Etosha National Park as without the park their lodges would not be possible. The accommodation options and child policies differ from lodge to lodge. Guests need to enquire via the website, book online or pay via booking system.

In order to make sure their website was understood by German visitors, we used the WP-MultiLingual plugin to allow visitors to easily change between fully-translated English and German versions of every page on the site.

Because Mushara already had a website, they wanted the previous website upgraded with a new look and better functionality. Initially we took the copy and images they already had and assembled them using a theme we built in-house, HappyBeds. Since then we’ve upgraded the website to our new free WordPress theme, LSX.

LSX Extensions

The site also uses a number of our premium LSX extensions:


The LSC Currencies extension allows the Mushara website to dynamically switch the currency of displayed prices so that browsers from around the world can know what to expect in their own country’s currency when viewing the lodge’s rates.


The Mushara website displays beautiful banners using the LSX theme’s Banners extension, which offers more robust customization options than default featured images in LSX, such as the X / Y positioning of the banner, default placeholder banners, cropping, and more.


Mushara uses the LSX Team extension to show the friendly faces to prospective travellers of the owners, management, guides, hospitality crew, and the rest of the family that makes Mushara tick.


The LSX Testimonials extension was used to create a form that guests can fill in on the website to provide feedback about their stay at Mushara


The LSX Customizer extension gives us complete control over the appearance of the Mushara blog, allowing us to specify elements like featured image options, layout, metadata, and colour

The Solution

LightSpeed built a responsive site that is mobile friendly. The homepage showcases the Etosha park and the four lodges. Each lodge has its own landing page where customers can find all the necessary information about the specific lodge like rates, booking links and an enquiry form. The website has a blog for general news as well as listing posts about the acts of social responsibility they perform in and around their location.
