Tuis | Home magazine is published monthly and showcases beautiful décor, crafts and interesting food products from around South Africa. The client recently launched a market day, where they aim to bring the pages of the magazine to life through a variety of decor, craft, gift and food vendors. This was a relatively simple site in terms of what it needed to say, users needed to be informed about the market day, upcoming dates and the venue.
There was also a requirement for a vendor sign up form, where potential vendors could submit a request to trade at the market day.
As this is the inaugural event, the design and development budget was kept to a minimum. However we still needed to deliver a site that was on brand and delivered an enticing message for the upcoming event.
The design directive was to be “big and bold” and to include bright colours, large titles with punchy bites of information about the market day. We had a few reference sites that the client liked, so we used this as a springboard to the 1st drafts. Typography was key for this design, so we focused on selecting a font pairing that was aligned with the branding supplied. The typography also needed to clearly communicate the message, as well as be a design element.
Once the designs were signed off we got stuck into coding the site. The development of the site was done on our LSX Theme, primarily with WordPress core Gutenberg blocks with custom styling applied. We managed to convert the approved designs to code effectively and deliver this site, under pressure, to a happy client.
We are really pleased at how this little site turned out. We like the colour schemes, typography and the simplicity of it. We hope to work on this one again when the market day grows in popularity.
